Sources & editorial standards

Useful guidance needs an evidence trail.

Reviewed October 15, 2026. Our guides distinguish market background, utility rules, hypothetical arithmetic and account-specific contract questions.

Where facts come from

We prioritize utility tariffs and program pages, state regulators, the U.S. Energy Information Administration and Department of Energy resources. Each guide links to relevant starting sources. A review date records an editorial review; it does not mean every linked tariff or price remains unchanged.

What the content does not establish

A state listing is not proof of eligibility for every utility or customer class. A benchmark is not a retail quote. A fixed supply component is not a fixed total bill. Current program rules, tariffs and signed agreements take precedence over educational summaries.

Examples and tools

Numerical examples are hypothetical and exclude charges where stated. Tools run in your browser, use inputs you provide and do not predict market prices. They do not send your figures to our inquiry form or analytics.

Images and commercial claims

AI-generated equipment scenes are identified as illustrations. They do not document customers, installations or outcomes. We do not use invented testimonials or savings case studies. Any actual offer or later engagement should identify the supplier, scope, compensation and applicable terms.
